Digging for Birthday Treasure

Ben is all about birthday surprises.  This year he surprised me 3 days early with a birthday treasure hunt.  He had me digging for buried treasure out at the lake, counting paces in the park, rummaging through construction sites, and climbing trees.  With each clue I got a little more moola to spend on myself, he got me a laptop, and the hunt ended in a fabulous massage.  He never disappoints!

These are some snippets from the poems he wrote for my treasure hunt...

If you've made it this far that's a good beginning
You're on the right track, you're totally winning.
Hold on to that green stuff, it's only a start,
There's more to come if you just do your part!

Now get out of that hole, get back up top.
It's your birthday week, no time to stop.
The last clue was tricky, a little bit rough,
Now let's make this next one not quite as tough.

He is so cute!!

Since my actual birthday was the day before Easter, we spent it going to Easter Egg hunts, coloring Easter Eggs, and in the evening we attended the General Women's Session of Conference.  We did sneak in a birthday lunch, opened a few more presents and hit up Zupas after the session.  Another lovely birthday!

We scored free kids meals at Iggy's during our Eater Egg hunt,
so that is where we went for my birthday lunch!

Didn't have enough candles, but we found these
and they just happened to add up to my age!

Go Zags!

March Madness has taken over at our house.  Gonzaga made it pretty far so we had a pony in the race for awhile.  Makes it a lot more fun!

"Earning" a Trip to Disneyland

Some people have the luxury of being able to go on fun family trips all the time.  We aren't those people.  Finances have always been really tight for us.  It may sound financially irresponsible, but this year,  instead of using our tax return to pay off debt, increase our home value, or for the bazillions of others things on our priority list, we are going to live it up... a little.  I feel like Ben and I have earned it!  We're going to Disneyland.

The question is, when?  We discussed it in family council and the kids agreed that in order to earn this trip they must each read from the Book of Mormon and say their personal prayers for 75 days and perform 25 acts of service.  Except for Qyntn, he just has to say his personal prayers for 75 days and poop in the toilet 25 times.

Alyssa, Holly and Qyntn are right on track.  I hope Ayzha, Tiago and Reyn are too.
