Save the Turtles

One of the reasons we wanted to go back to PV in October was because baby sea turtles hatch around this time each year.  We went turtle hunting twice.  The first night we saw momma turtles, the second night we had the privilege of witnessing a nest hatching.  One after one the baby turtles poked their noses up through the sand, struggled to climb out and made their way towards the ocean.  A few got turned around so we helped them get going in the right direction.  We also visited a sea turtle camp where they educate the public, and protect and release baby turtles.

maybe 40 little baby sea turtles came out of the nest

This is what a nest looks like under the sand.
Momma's can lay up to 100 eggs at a time.

I asked Q to snap a picture of me with the turtles.
