Fall Break (Day 3)

Day 3 started with "The Wave" lottery.  It was intense, but we didn't win.

It was a day for the record books.  We hiked the longest and deepest slot canyon in the world, Buckskin Gulch.  We didn't do our research though and started at the wrong trailhead.  It added about 6 miles to the hike.  None of us were happy!  In all we hiked about 11 miles.  The gulch really was majestic though, worth it!

After our half marathon hike, we headed to one of the largest canyons in the world, the Grand Canyon, to watch the sunset.  We hiked out to Angel Point for the amazing view.  At one point on the narrow path there were sheer cliffs on both sides, it made my heart skip a beat and I got a little dizzy.  The canyon is breathtaking!  I think the kids were even impressed.

We walked and walked and walked...

And finally made it to the gulch.

It was majestic!
